Our Stay at the Hotel Asteara in Mlini, Croatia

The Summer season has started here in South Europe, and since I had my 30th birthday this past week, I thought that it was a perfect occasion to make a weekend trip to the sea. My friends and I decided to go to a small town called Mlini, which is located on the Adriatic Sea near, much more famous and well known Dubrovnik. We had a great weekend here, and pretty much relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. It was a welcome change from the busy work days. I hope you will enjoy the sights as much as we did.

About the Resort

The hotel is a resort as well. It is newly renovated, the rooms are spacious and nice, with great views of the surroundings. There is a indoor swimming pool, sauna, restaurant, bar and other facilities. Surrounding the resort are two outdoor swimming pools, a lunch bar, two restaurants, and the rest of the town of Mlini which can be explored easily.

Chilling at the Beach Bar

After a day filled with swimming, we had some drinks at the beach bar, which had some great views of the sea and islands. I can't even begin to describe how relaxing it is here. After the drinks we took a stroll through the town, and enjoyed the views of the sunset. I loved seeing a little bridge crossing a stream in the middle of the town. Everything is old and new at the same time. Mlini is not a big place, but there is lots to see.

Dinner in Mlini

We had dinner in the Pizzeria Mlini, which had great and affordable pizzas. I am saying affordable because this part of Croatia is not a cheap place to travel to, especially Dubrovnik. It is gaining popularity among visitors each year and the crowds flock in more and more each year. We visited outside of the main tourist season which starts in July. There were fewer people here, and a waiter told us that in July and August the beaches are full of visitors.

After dinner we made a stroll back to the Hotel and enjoyed the nightly views. The outside pools were nicely lit at night. We actually went to Dubrovnik after dinner, but that part of our trip will be shown in the next post.

A New Day at the Hotel Asteara

The next morning was equally sunny and bright as the day before. We had a great breakfast in the hotel. There was a lot to choose from. After breakfast we went back to the pool. Only guests are allowed to use it, so there aren't that many people there. The beaches here are nice as well, but the sea was a bit cold to swim so we stayed at the pool.

With the GoPro at the Pool

We got our GoPro camera out and used it at the pool. It's a really fun camera for these types of images. I have used it before on the seaside and posted some images on the blog. This time the pictures turned out great as well. But you have to make a lot of them to get some that are great. Our camera had a special protection so that we could submerge it in the water. Here are some of those images.

Thank you so much for visiting. In the next post we will show you our nightly visit to Dubrovnik.

Ich bin nach meinem Urlaub schon extrem im Arbeitsstress und leide nach jedem Urlaub erst sehr stark davon, daß ich wieder arbeiten muß.
